Asus FonePad coming soon to India
Asus India is gearing up to launch the Intel powered FonePad tablet in India . This 7 inch tablet was announced at MWC back in February and is coming to India very soon. Asus India has been teasing “a new family member” on its Facebook and Twitter pages with the image below and it clearly looks like the Fonepad from the back.
The tablet actually packs phone functionality in Asia and is powered by the new Intel Atom Z2420 CPU running at 1.2 GHz. The company might launch launch the WiFi only version initially followed by the 3G version. The Nexus 7 finally went on sale this month.
Could the PadFone be a worthy competitor to the phablets in India if priced right ? The fonepad should be priced under Rs.20000 and ideally around Rs.15000 going by the international pricing revealed so far.

Airtel can continue 3G Intra-circle roaming, but cannot add new 3G customers in 7 circles, says SC
supreme Court has ordered Bharti Airtel not to extend its 3G Intra-circle roaming services to new customers in the 7 circles, where it did not have licences for 3G spectrum, according to a report from The Economic Times. Airtel got a temporary relief earlier this week, when Supreme Court allowed them to continue their 3G intra-circle roaming till April 11th. Last month DoT had asked Bharti Airtel to stop 3G services in 7 circles and asked them to pay Rs. 350 crore (Rs. 50 crore per circle) for illegal roaming pact with Vodafone and Idea . Delhi High Court temporarily stalled the execution of DoT’s order until the final hearing, after Airtel appealed against it.
Last week Supreme Court rejected a plea by Bharti to immediately hear its appeal against the Delhi High Court order on Thursday. Last week DoT had asked Vodafone India and Idea Cellular to stop 3G services outside their licensed zones in 3 days, and asked them to pay Rs. 550 and Rs. 300 crores, for violating licence norms and ordered Airtel to shut down 3G services within 24 hours in 7 circles.
Airtel has been accused by Reliance Communication and the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) of providing 3G services to customers in circles where it did not have licence.
The bench would hear Airtel’s appeal in a detailed hearing on May 9th 2013. Till then, Airtel cannot enroll new customers in these 7 circles including, Haryana, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh (East), Kolkata, Gujarat, Kerala and Madhya Pradesh, but they can continue providing 3G services to the existing customer base.

Zen Mobiles is all set to release their flagship Android smartphone, Zen Ultrafone 701 HD this month. It has a It has a 5-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) HD IPS display, powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6589 processor and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean). It has a 8MP rear camera with LED Flash, BSI sensor, and a 3.2MP front-facing camera. Most of the specifications are similar to the Micromax A116 Canvas HD. The company launched the Ultraphone U4, a budget Android smartphone earlier this year.

The Zen Ultrafone 701 HD is priced at Rs. 11,999. It is now on pre-order from online retailer Snapdeal for just Rs. 101 and is expected to go on sale in the third week of April. Snapdeal offers free goodies including a Flip Cover, Back panel and a screen guard for those who pre-book the device from them.
