Toshiba has officially announced a new line of premium ultrabook computers called the KIRAbook. The new ultrabook will be offered in three different versions that share many of the same features. The machines will have 13.3-inch displays with a resolution of 2560 x 1440.
The ultrabook display offers 221 pixels per inch making them very close to par with the new retina MacBooks. Toshiba promises high color accuracy and the machines will ship with Adobe software for editing photos and video. The ultrabooks will be available with normal screens and units featuring touchscreens will be offered.

All models use an AZ91 pressed magnesium alloy and honeycomb base for lightweight and strength. The notebooks will feature 256 GB of storage and 8 GB of memory. Weight will be 2.6 pounds and the machines will be 0.7-inches thick. Pre-ordering will kickoff on May 3 with configurations ranging from $1599.99 up to $1999.99 with Core i5 and i7 processor options.
